1536 Anne Boleyn (2009)

For Costume Con 2009 in Timmonium, MD, I decided to enter the Historical Masquerade as Anne Boleyn.  I created a dress in the style of 1536, the year she was executed.  The overgown is mulberry silk velvet, the turnback sleeves an iridescent salmon-gold taffeta.  The kirtle front and foresleeves are a killer gold silk lampas.  This project was my first Tudor-era and I heavily relied on the then-recently printed Tudor Tailor for guidance.  Special thanks to my good friend Bess Chilver of www.myladyswardrobe.com for the loan of her “B” necklace, which was made for her by her sister, the talented Nicki Wade-Evans of www.gemmeus.com
